A Work In Progress

Updated: Feb 4, 2020

These blogs will be simple reflections on the work we do. About how we find a way through the bumps and bruising of life with our clients and how healing, growth and potential may happen.

Welcome to my blog.

Hi, my name is Stephen Bell and I have worked in the counselling and personal development sector for over 30 years. I am a work in progress and have explored and trained in many methodologies over the years, not only to equip myself to work with people but also to heal myself from the bumps and loses that have come my way as they do in most people’s lives.

Psychodrama has been my foundation training and I was lucky to have some great trainers including Warren Parry, Max Clayton and Don Reekie. Psychodrama is a way of seeing and understanding the world and I will bring these understandings into my writing as well some if the issues we work with including grief, anxiety, depression, anger, potential, youth, old age, families and communities to name a few.

My work has taken me into the edge of life working with people who are struggling to stay alive and not kill themselves, with people who are terminally ill and with people who have created much damage through violence and abuse.

I have meet with politicians in the Beehive, CEOs in boardrooms, prisoners in maximum security, families in distress and disarray and many thousands of young people who are on that pathway from childhood to adulthood; with all the challenges that can bring.

With all these people I have meet very few who don’t want a happy health life and a happy healthy community and yet many struggle to achieve and find that. In these blogs we will explore ways of understanding the world and ourselves.

At the core of healing is the ability to relax, not just the skill of doing nothing but how we can take the agitation, the fire out of our system so our body, mind and emotions can heal, so we can grow and play in the world. Connecting themes of our work and our website are experiences where you can Relax, Heal, Grow and Play.

Welcome also to our website with information about neurofeedback, biofeedback, psychodrama, counselling and therapy. You will also find our online shop – Shop with Purpose…more on that another time.

Until next time - Ma te wa - Stephen
